OVERVIEW:
Woodridge farming operations required a sustainable solar solution to power their irrigation pumps so that they didn’t need to rely on a costly diesel generator during outages. We installed a Solar PV Microgrid on a piece of land that was unsuitable for farming, helping them benefit from an otherwise unusable space while reducing four Eskom supply points to one to support cost savings and energy security.
SIZE: 391.89 kWp
SAVINGS:
Offset diesel cost on generator that was being used for baseload operation
Reduced energy requirement from the national grid to curb the rising costs of electricity
Reduced admin and service charges
Bulk electricity supply to buy power at a cheaper rate
ENERGY SECURITY: Centralised generator system
MOUNT: Ground
